Privacy policy

Short version: we don’t want your data, we don’t sell it, and your location never leaves your phone.

Applies to the PinSheet and PinPlacer apps and to www.pinsheet.app. Last reviewed 2026.

The apps

TuxSoft is committed to respecting your privacy. Our position is deliberately simple: the apps collect no personal information about you.

Location

Location services are optional and off until you switch them on. When you do, your position is used inside the app only — to work out distances to the green and the flag, to follow which hole you are playing. It is not shared with us and it is not sent anywhere outside the app.

Scores, players and handicaps

Names and handicaps you enter for scoring are stored on your own device so the app can offer them again next time. They are not uploaded to us.

What the app does fetch

PinSheet downloads the published pin positions, hole and green data, local rules and sponsor adverts for the course you have chosen. That is a one-way download of the club’s data to your phone.

Club staff accounts

PinPlacer and the back office are staff tools and require an account issued by the club. Those accounts exist so a club can control who may edit and publish pin positions, and so that changes can be attributed. Clubs administer their own users.

Purchases

Where a subscription applies, it is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.

This website

Like any web server, ours may automatically and temporarily record technical information about a visit:

  • the date and time of your visit;
  • the pages you looked at;
  • the address of the site you came from;
  • your browser type and operating system.

This is ordinary server logging. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not passed to anyone.

Disclosure

TuxSoft does not store, disclose, give, sell or transfer personal information about our visitors or app users to third parties.

Links to other sites

This site links to places we don’t control — the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our clubs’ and sponsors’ own sites. Once you follow one of those links you are subject to that site’s privacy policy, and we are not responsible for its content.
